Introduction to the Event
On Earth Day, we partnered with the Romero institute to create a concert with a compelling discussion led by renowned environmental advocate Julia Butterfly Hill, alongside local environmental and political leaders. This gathering shed light on the alarming plans put forth by the Trump administration, which aims to auction oil and deep-sea mining leases off the California coast in the upcoming year, specifically within the Monterey Bay area.
Panel Discussion
Future Forum organized the panel, with Katie Thompson, the Executive Director of Save Our Shores, Brady Bradshaw, a senior oceans campaigner for the Center for Biological Diversity, and Santa Cruz County Supervisor Justin Cummings and Santa Cruz Deputy Mayor Shebreh Kalantari-Johnson.
